Collaborators

Professor Simon J.A. Pope, Professor of Inorganic Chemistry – Cardiff University
The Beames and Pope groups share research into the photophysics of novel metal-centred phosphors and light upconverters. This has recently focused on modified Ir(III) quinoxaline complexes.

Dr Ian A. Fallis, Reader in Inorganic Chemistry
– Cardiff University
The Beames and Fallis groups share research into the detection of toxic chemicals. This includes both computational and experimental fundamental photophysical research into colourimetric detection systems.

Dr Emma Richards, Lecturer in Physical Chemistry – Cardiff University
The Beames and Richards groups share research into time resolved transient EPR spectroscopy. This work provides insight into laser/light induced photoexcited state dynamics, both in the solution and solid phases.

Dr Niek Buurma, Senior Lecturer in Physical Organic Chemistry – Cardiff University
The Beames and Buurma groups share research into the development of novel tools for interrogating organic chemical reactions. This includes AI automated flow chemistry and inline spectroscopic characterisation.

Professor Peter J. Knowles, Professor in Theoretical Chemistry – Cardiff University
The Beames and Knowles groups undertake a range of joint research, recently focusing on computational studies of tropospheric Criegee intermediate reaction mechanisms.

Dr Tom A.A. Oliver, Proleptic Associate Professor and Royal Society University Research Fellow – University of Bristol
The Beames and Oliver groups have an ongoing collaboration studying the ultrafast photophysics of solution phase light upconversion.

Dr Andrew Rickard, Senior Research Fellow– University of York
The Beames and Rickard groups have an ongoing collaboration investigating tropospheric Criegee intermediate reactions, specifically using computational and experimental approaches to produce bimolecular reaction rates for inclusion in tropospheric models.

Dr Mike Newland, Post Doctoral Research Associate– University of York
Dr Newland is a member of Dr Rickard’s research group, and has been instrumental in supporting our collaborative efforts.
